Questions and answers on how to buy a hospital bed
What is the difference between semi electric beds and full electric
hospital beds?
The main difference is that full electric hospital beds are motorized
to go up and down and semi electric beds have a crank to raise the bed.
Electric functions to raise and lower the bed are needed to help caregivers
with taking care of the patient and also for assistance with getting in and
out of bed. Many patients will raise the bed up to get to their feet and
lower the bed to make sure they can sit down in bed comfortably.
Does Medicare cover full electric hospital beds?
Typically, Medicare covers semi-electric beds for patients who need them. For a full electric bed, a doctor’s prescription is usually required, and coverage varies by insurance provider. Always check with your insurance company for specific coverage details. Providing quality care at home can be more cost-effective than hospital stays, so having the right medical bed is crucial.
Do You accept Insurance to Purchase a Hospital Bed?
We do not accept insurance so normally the client needs to buy the
hospital bed and then get reimbursed by the insurance company.
Our refurbished Hill Rom and Stryker hospital beds provide a
great value to medical patients since they are normally
50% to 70% less than retail bed pricing new.
Hospital beds wider than the 36 inch standard sleeping surface
are referred to as “bariatric hospital beds” and they will normally
come in 38″, 42″, 48″ and some as wide as 52 inches.
Do you have more questions on hospital beds and which bed model is best for you?
Our knowledgeable staff is free to help you find the right bed for each customer
and medical situation and we carry a wide range of hospital bed models for
all types of medical conditions. Call “Hospital Direct Medical” at 858-263-4894
or at 858-652-1259 for more information on Stryker, Hill Rom and Invacare
hospital bed models.
Do We Rent Hospital Beds?
No we do not rent hospital beds but we price our models like the
Stryker Secure 2 beds at just $1,200 which is about the same price
of renting a bed for 3 months. Anytime after that you are are
normally saving money by purchasing a bed instead of renting.
Many of these hospital beds are able to retain their value and
can be resold to the public or back to our company for a lower
price.
